Success requires correcting your mental vision

Long-term success requires sharp mental vision, that is, it requires that a person be able to see FAR AHEAD and be able to PREDICT, EXPLAIN AND CONTROL what will happen.

The above screenshot is an ad for laser correction of one's physical vision, but I think a similar operation is required to correct one's MENTAL vision (that is, seeing with the mind's eyes).

Here's the problem.

If you can't see far with your physical eyes, it will be quite obvious to you or to other people. For instance, a doctor can test your vision. Without good vision, you cannot drive a car.

But if your mind's vision is not good, then it is not so easy to detect it. Your mind's eyes are invisible, and we live in a society of "managed public response," that is, where mass institutions are created that will look far into the future and TELL you what to do. Most people are spectators, so they are not required to drive any enterprise or lead any organization, so mental vision acuity is NOT necessary.

However, for people who want great success and the realization of their dream life, something that mass institutions (schools, corporate employers, etc.) do not want for individuals -- they want obedient, conforming and no-trouble citizens who do what they are told --, then the only way is to improve one's mental vision.

An entrepreneur therefore has to develop his/her mental vision by writing a business plan. This will be hard, for his first reaction when sitting in front of a blank sheet of paper is: "Oh my God, I'm "blind"! I can't see anything! I can't see my future!"

This is good.

He becomes, for the first time, conscious of his mental incompetence.

He begins to lift the eyelids of his MIND! And these eyelids are very, very heavy.

Most people live their entire lives without opening their mind, so they cannot see their own future. They let their own future be determined by other people, who have sharper mental vision.

In other words, if you don't have a plan, then you are living your life according to someone else's plan (and are helping him realize HIS goal).

Failure to plan is easily the number one reason why most people fail in business. In Canada, statistics have shown that of all the people who fail at starting a venture, in 72% of the cases, it's because there was no business plan (or a highly insufficient one).

Anybody who wants financial freedom MUST have a business plan. That's because there is no "freedom" without a war. The expression should be "financial freedom war."

The freedom only comes AFTER the war has been fought, and no war can be successfully fought without a plan.

If you launch a business and you don't have a business plan, then nobody would invest in your business. And neither should you.

If you asked 6 billion people to invest in your business, then 6 billion people will say "No!" That's because without a business plan, they are NOT able to see what will happen to their (hard earned) money. It would be like inviting them to throw their money out the window!

Same thing with recruiting for a network marketing business. If you don't show them a clear, detailed, specific plan of action -- with numbers, dates, metrics, performance indicators, etc. -- then you are asking potential recruitees to throw away their time and money into a black hole.

However, once you have a clear, detailed and specific business plan, then any rational person would seriously consider investing in your business. A serious business plan is in fact the main instrument for receiving as much capital as you need to run your business effectively.

The absence of a business plan is the perfect formula for failing in business.

In an upcoming post, I will also argue that the absence of a career plan is the perfect formula for failing in one's career.

Make money with Peter

I'm currently recruiting smart, hungry and unstoppable people to work as trainers, sales reps, marketers or special agents for my various product lines. The screenshot above shows part of the manual titled "Make Money with Peter," which describes in detail all the ways you can make money with me.
But that's not the best part. The best part is that you get to learn about "cyber-entrepreneurship," a new kind of ultra-fast, super-profitable entrepreneurship made possible by the Internet.
The stakes are extremely high with cyber-entrepreneurship, because markets are international and marketing is often viral in nature, enabling a smart first mover to totally and globally PREEMPT his competitors. Result? He or she becomes extremely rich extremely fast.
Anyways, if you're interested in receiving the "Make Money with Peter" manual, please email me your resume in PDF format (no Word format please).
This offer is only valid for subscribers of this blog.

Why most people are poor

I created a special site to help people understand what business is all about, at http://business-e-ducation.blogspot.com/

It's free.

As I mentioned on that site, without business knowledge, a person can simply not become financially free.

The good news is that business is fairly simple. Business schools have made everything complicated, yet business is really simple.

The proof that business is really simple, is the success of the micro-credit program created by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, winner of the Nobel Prize. Millions of women in developing countries, especially Bangladesh, have been able to create their own business and make a living from it.

You might think that they do not have leverage and cannot become rich, yet a recent article in The Economist talked about how fishermen in Kerala, India were able to use cell phones to coordinate their matching of their daily catches with local market demands, resulting in an average increase in profits of 40%.

Technologies will continue to empower entrepreneurs, even those who are living in countries where previously, there was a lack of infrastructural elements to support business growth.

The problem in the West is that we still have the employee mentality, when the rest of the world has begun to adopt -- often aggressively, like the Chinese -- the capitalistic way of thinking.

For instance, 75% of Chinese people surveyed said that capitalism is the way of the future, compared to 64% in Canada and 35% in France (maybe it's a good thing for France that Nicolas Sarkozy won the elections).

How about you?

Do you still think that working for someone else will make you rich?

I never thought that working for someone else would make me rich, but also, I didn't think that working for a paycheck would make me poor either. So I kept working all these years (until I stopped for good in 2000 and became a serial entrepreneur).

President Ronald Reagan once joked: "Working hard never killed anybody, but why take a chance?"

Here's the secret: The biggest cost of working for someone else is that your mind is too busy, and your attention and energy is too engaged in your job, to think about ways to create passive income.

Let me illustrate it this way: Imagine two babies sitting on the floor, and playing with toys. The baby girl is playing with dolls, whereas the baby boy is constructing a castle from wooden blocks.

As long as they are immersed in their activity (and for babies, learning and playing IS a serious activity), it will NOT occur to them to begin to crawl and then walk.

In short, they will NEVER learn how to stand up and walk (and eventually run).

This is the tragedy in most people's lives: they are so immersed in working for someone else, engaged in an activity DESIGNED to fully absorb their mind, that it will never occur to them to stand up and start walking.

In the same way that the two babies will not develop their walking skill and coordination so they can stand up and walk, most employees will never develop the entrepreneurial muscles in their mind. This means they will never become rich, let alone financially independent.

If you look at your friends or relatives, you will realize how true this is. They accept the fact that being an employee is an inescapable condition of life, and they will not change their mind. This is why they have to work till retirement age around 65.

Selling = $$$

To start a business, end a life.

What I mean is that to become an entrepreneur, you've got to carefully examine your previous values, beliefs, references, specific life incidents, experiences, friendships, etc. and reject all those that are no longer compatible with your new ENTREPRENEURIAL path.

When I teach the BMW workshop (www.businessmodelworkout.blogspot.com), one thing I noticed is the enormous prejudice that people have toward "selling." Most people think it's beneath them to sell, or that the selling process is somehow sneaky or stressful, etc.

Those are the people who will NEVER succeed in business. Unless they change their mind, that is.

Selling is simply helping people to clarify what they need, and then helping them to get it.

Selling also happens to be the easiest and most fun way of making money: you just meet people, make friends, talk and at the end of it all, they hand you the money.

Nothing beats that!

Of course, you have to know what to talk about and HOW to talk, but that's another fun part: you begin to master language and communication to a degree that most people can't even imagine. You begin to watch what you're saying. And you begin to have fun talking as it becomes a sort of game where you keep the score.

It is the self-control (intellectual, social, emotional, verbal, etc.) involved in selling that makes it so much fun. People who don't sell, just chat and waste time usually. They chat about the weather, the movies, cars, etc. Those are unimportant stuff.

When you sell, you talk to people about their pain, their goals in life, their priorities, their concerns -- all these are important stuff that everybody wants to talk about.

Because you are right there, willing to listen to them, they will trust you. And they WANT to talk to you!

Like the saying goes: "People don't care what you know until they know that you care."

People who have negative perceptions or feelings about selling, are leaving millions of dollars on the table!

The bottom line is that the more you sell (and you can sell your products and services, or someone else's), the more money you make. You can even make a six-figure income if you want, or become a multimillionaire.

Upcoming post: Selling is like a game of tennis.

Why not franchise your career?

A job is like a battle, whereas a career is the overall war strategy.

You need to excel at both, although excelling at career management is a higher-level, strategic and very cerebral affair whereas excelling at one's job is a hands-on, action-oriented, results-driven endeavour.

Here's a killer idea that can make you a fortune, if you implement it right.

Why not franchise your career and/or your job?

Most people, from the receptionnist to the CEO of a Fortune 500 corporation, currently work like cooks in the kitchen of a restaurant. If they don't show up for work every day, the customer has nothing on his plate (and won't be happy).

The customer is your boss, in most cases. Or he can be your direct client who benefits from your professional services if you work as a lawyer, accountant, consultant, doctor, etc.

By TRYING to franchise your job, you will be forced to ONLY retain the proven and tested procedures you use which actually WORK in producing desirable outcomes.

Similarly, by TRYING to franchise your career management, you will be forced to ONLY retain career activities and practices that actually work in producing desirable outcomes.

In either case, the franchising process moves your thinking from the action level to the system level, where the leverage power is much greater.

Indeed, why "waste" your entire life doing something when you can create a system that teaches others how to do it FOR YOU?

Some people might say: "Well, Peter, that sounds nice, but only I can do the work that I do."

If that were true, you would be making a six-figure income. Since you're probably making a five-figure income, my guess is that you are not that indispensable to your organization (with all due respect).

Also, nobody ever became rich by working for somebody else.

However, if you franchise your career or your job, you CAN make an enormous amount of money and even achieve financial independence, because your income-producing system is now based on a non-personal system, NOT on your person.

In other words, by standardizing the process by which you create value for your current employer, you can sell that process to an unlimited number of people (via the Internet) and can then generate multiple streams of income.

As I mentioned elsewhere on this blog, to become wealthy, you've got to remove yourself from your wealth-creation system or equation.

You must create a system that works even when you don't! A system that creates value even when you are sleeping!

Your current job -- no matter what it is -- is only part of a system that creates value for (sleeping) business owners or shareholders.

Only by shifting to a system-oriented mentality can you BEGIN to understand what wealth is all about, and BEGIN to pursue it until you reach financial independence.

Burning Desire People (BDP)

There are people from Europe, Asia and the U.S. contacting me to become affiliates in one of my businesses.

The thinking and emails and behaviors show that they are "burning desire people," exactly the kind of people that every entrepreneur wants as business partners.

They are the rare exception.

Most people are more like Homo Zapiens: they spend their entire lives "zapping" from one TV channel to the next. Or going from one fiction book to another, in order to escape a reality that they do not have the courage to face and change.

And yet -- and this is the tragedy -- to change oneself gets easier and easier AFTER you launch the change process.

Similarly, the more you procrastinate and delay the change process, the more DIFFICULT it becomes to BEGIN the change process.

Seneca wrote centuries ago: "It's not because things are difficult that we don't do them. It's because we don't do them that they are difficult."

He also wrote: "Powerful is he who has himself within his power."

The Burning Desire People (BDP) I mentioned above and am always looking for to partner with, are people who have decided once and for all that NOTHING and NO ONE will stop them once they've decided to do something.

Self-made billionaire Ross Perot said that "it just takes one idea to live like a king for the rest of your life." He never mentioned what that idea is, but for me, the idea is to "start living like a king for the rest of your life!"

That is, START thinking like a king. START acting like a king. START recruiting knights like a king. START wearing the king's crown and START ruling over your life, your thoughts, your behavior.

A Spanish proverb goes: "After the game of life is over, both the king and the pawn return to the same box."

That's a powerful success secret: you are not a wooden chess piece. You can DECIDE to play the game of life like a KING or a PAWN.

Wealth secret: You / Internet work ratio

Wealth is all about leverage, and here's a simple way to assess whether and how much you leverage the most powerful economic instrument I know: the Internet.

I call it the "You / Internet work ratio," and it basically compares your work input with the work input of the Internet.

For instance, I usually spend 5 minutes writing a post on this blog. But through Feedblitz (a free service I highly recommend), my posts are sent by the Internet directly into subscribers' email inbox.

The You / Internet work ratio also applies to the EASE with which you work.

For instance -- AND THIS IS TOTALLY AMAZING, I recently created a "voicelog" at www.successsecretsradio.blogspot.com where I can easily record my posts, and thousands of people can easily subscribe to them (or they can just hear the audio-posts by visiting the site).

Voicelogs are different from blogs, in that you don't have to write anything. You just speak into a microphone that records what you're saying, and then you can instantly share your thoughts and ideas and knowledge with the world!

24/7 job interview - JOBIZ

The JOBIZ is a new invention I came up with. It's a concept that comes from "job" + "biz."

Basically, it's a job designed so that it could become a business in itself. Both the employer and the employee win, because the former can slowly but surely outsource the function to an autonomous free agent, whereas the latter can learn more about business and totally gain control / ownership of the function.

I predict that the concept of a JOBIZ will spread rapidly in the new global economy. Employing organizations will become platforms for creating such jobs because they have the stability and resources, while the jobiz holder has the entrepreneurial spirit and drive.

This means business owners will always be looking for entrepreneurially driven people, and this in turn means that the "job interview" will take place 24 hours a day.

Concretely, it means that anything you say or do or show, will contribute to shaping a certain perception in the mind of an employer or an employer's agent (HR rep, headhunter, etc.).

Sure, you have the right to remain silent. However, if you do decide to speak up or write stuff (for instance, on Linkedin Answers) that reveals your mind, your values, your standards, your professionalism, etc. then anything you say can and will be used against you (or for you).

What about jobs that will never become a JOBIZ? Staff positions, for instance. I'm afraid those are the dead-end jobs. Because they are not business-relevant, they will eventually be automated, outsourced or eliminated altogether.

By "business-relevant," I mean marketing, sales, production, or any function that contributes directly to a company's success and profitably growth.

This being said, I believe most jobs -- even the most bureaucratic ones -- can be turned into one that contributes significantly to the company's growth and success. It's just a matter of understanding how your company works to create value for customers.

Being intelligent is not enough

You probably know many people who have university degrees (sometimes, even TWO degrees) yet they are not making a lot of money given the time and money they've invested in their education.

You might also know college dropouts who are making a lot of money in business.

Why is that?

My theory -- and I admit I was inspired by my intellectual teacher, Dr Edward de Bono -- is that wealth comes from the "strategic direction of intelligence."

In other words, it's not enough to be intelligent. One must be intelligent at directing one's intelligence.

An archer can have a powerful bow and really, really sharp arrows, but if he doesn't know where to aim, it's useless.

A car driver may sit behind the wheel of a powerful sports car, but if he doesn't know how to read maps and get to where he wants to go, all the turbine engines in the world cannot help him.

Similarly, wealth comes from consciously and strategically DIRECTING one's intelligence. Thinking is not enough. One must be able to DIRECT one's thinking in the right direction.

If you want to get rich, you have to think in BUSINESS ways.

If you want a romantic partner, you have to think in ROMANTIC ways.

If you want an amazing career, you have to think in ways that advance your career.

The truth is, in every important area of life, there is a body of knowledge and expertise that you can leverage to achieve the results you want.

The problem is, people mix the areas together, resulting in their using the wrong knowledge in the area they want to improve in.

They want to get rich, but get emotional. They want a romantic partner, but think like a business person calculating the pros and cons (that is, they constantly calculate the "return" or try to find a perfect "match"). They want to advance in their career, but think like consumers watching TV and shopping for the latest novelties.

In the end, knowledge or intelligence is like a sword. What matters is how skillfully you wield it. This requires a great deal of self-control and self-mastery.

Self-mastery, in my opinion, has to do with how intelligently you direct and control your intelligence in order to achieve the results you want.

Is the Internet using you?

The Internet is pervasive and unavoidable. It will become even more so as a great many more devices will be hooked to the Internet in the coming years.

The question is, "Are you using the Internet, or is the Internet using you?"

For instance, is the Internet using you the same way that TV is using you? That is, as a passive consumer of commercial information (advertising)?

Of course, what's different about the Internet is that you can USE it to broadcast your own messages. You can't do that with TV.

However, the fact that a person -- even a teenager -- can use the Internet as an international broadcast system, doesn't mean that he or she will do it. It takes motivation.

Motivation depends on PERCEPTION and EMOTION, that is, how you intellectually understand the Internet and how you feel about it.

Most importantly, it depends on whether you see the connection between the Internet and your financial freedom. If you visit and study the site www.successuniversity.com, there are many secrets to be learned about online business venturing.

Even a simple site like www.mobiletracker.net, launched by a 19-year-old who happens to be passionate about cell phone (and makes $55,000 a year by working only three hours per day), can teach many things about the new way to do business on the Internet.

The key is to start today. The eStore program I mentioned in the previous post is just ONE way to start your Internet business in 10 minutes. There are many other ways, but it's important to know HOW to evaluate the business opportunities that come your way. Here are some questions to ask:
  1. What is the initial investment required?
  2. Are there hidden costs (such as training and coaching)?
  3. What is the payback period (after precisely how many weeks or month will you recoup your initial investment?)?
  4. What are the credentials of the person behind the business opportunity?
  5. What are the risks?
  6. Given your personal life experience and professional background, does it make sense for you to pursue the opportunity?
  7. Is the business opportunity related to your "Work" (what you really want to do in life) or to your "work" (work that you do for money, to pay the bills or a new sports car)
  8. Do you have exclusive access to resources or assets which make it EASIER for you to capitalize on the opportunity (compared to other people)?
  9. How valuable is the business knowhow offered (for free, even before you invest) by the entrepreneur behind the business opportunity?
  10. Is there a formal training program in place to help you capitalize on the opportunity?

The above are only some of the questions to ask before you jump into any business opportunity, such as network marketing or direct sales or affiliate marketing.

Learning how to ask the above questions will prepare you to properly evaluate business opportunities on the Internet and to start USING the Web to your own economic advantage, instead of letting businesses and merchants bombard you with advertising messages via the Web.

Powerful secret, read carefully!!

Okay, here's an extremely powerful secret that is completely missed by the overwhelming majority of people. If you look at 50 friends or contacts of yours, you'd be lucky to find ONE person who understands the following powerful wealth-creation secret.

Let me illustrate it by asking you a simple question: If you were able to enter the Central Bank, where the federal government has machines to print money, and you could bring with you whatever you wanted, would you bring 1. the crisp, newly printed money, or 2. the machines that actually print the dollar bills?

Here's a similar, but slightly modified scenario: if you had to choose between taking with you the money-printing machines, OR the blueprint of the money-printing machines (this blueprint would enable you to create another machine), which would you choose?

Lastly, and perhaps you can relate more easily to this metaphor: If you met a fisherman and had the choice between learning from him HOW to fish, or getting a fish every day from him, which option would you choose?

I think you're beginning to see where I'm going with this.

SECRET: Never work for money, but rather, for the knowhow about how to CREATE money.

This "Midas" knowhow is worth infinitely more than the paycheck you're getting. This knowhow allows you to turn ideas and things into MONEY.

However, in a big corporation, functions are divided into separate departments so it's very hard for most people to see the whole picture about how the organization creates value and makes money.

You have more chances of learning the art of business if you work in a small firm.

Why is it important to learn about business? Because otherwise, you will be an economic slave for the rest of your life, and your entire economic/financial future will be at the mercy of your employer.

Sure, you could save money and invest and eventually retire when you're 55 or 60, but that's too long. It's better to learn about business as early as possible, so you can retire as early as possible.

In my case, I'm on my way to retiring before I'm 40. I predict many young people will be able to retire even before that, chiefly because young people today can set up a "micro multinational startup" in a few days, using networks like Linkedin to quickly establish commercial contacts abroad.

This powerful secret -- that one should work NOT for money but in order to learn how to MAKE money -- is simple, yet most people don't get it. Why? Because we tend to think that a paycheck is the appropriate reward for work that we perform.

Therefore, we do as little work as possible and then are happy to get the regular paycheck. This has got to be the most widespread and counterprofitable error of our times!

I have never made that mistake, even in my early 20s when I knew little about life. I've always tried to learn the business secrets of every employer I worked for. Of course, I won't divulge those secrets to anyone because I believe in abiding by the law, and those secrets belong to the employer.

However, by studying HOW employers make money, I was able to devise my own secret money-making techniques which I own and can license to others.

A second incredibly common mistake that most people make, is to have negative feelings about business. Yet, most people would love to have more money.

To want money and yet refuse to learn about business, is like wanting the fruits without acknowledging that they come from fruit trees!

If the fruit is good, how can the tree be bad? In other words, if you want money (fruit), you have to learn business (tree).

Of course, the tree (or the business) did not just come into existence out of the blue. The tree was once a seed, which was nurtured and eventually grew into a tree.

Because most people work for a large company, it is difficult for them to imagine how that company started. Therefore, the idea of starting a business seems remote or extremely difficult for people who work in a large corporation.

But if you're lucky to work in a small firm, you would see quitely clearly that starting a business is not that difficult.

Peter Drucker wrote brilliantly that the purpose of a business is to create a customer. This sounds deceptively simple, yet I can guarantee you that there is an enormous amount of wisdom in that single statement.

I would only modify Drucker's statement just a little bit: The purpose of a business is to create a perpetual customer by hiring a perpetual employee.

The employee pays attention so you don't have to, and the customer pays the bills so you don't have to. That is, the business is a system that works for you, and pays for you.

In short, you get paid but you don't have to work. How is this possible? Once again, it is possible IF and only IF you work for business owners NOT for money but in order to learn HOW to create and run a business.

Cyber-programming for great WEALTH

I wrote previously: "Serving a huge number of people is not as difficult as most people believe. But for that to be possible, you need a "genie." My favorite genie is Mr. Internet. He exists to serve YOU, and make YOU rich. Unfortunately, most people are not aware of this reality!"

This powerful genie, however, doesn't respond to verbal command. He only obeys keyboard commands. That is, you have to program the Internet to work for you.

Before we get into the nitty gritty details of cyber-programming, it's important to understand that the Internet is really your Star Employee: he never complains, works 24 hours a day, gets paid only about $30 a month (Internet connection fee), and never calls in sick!

As far as I'm concerned, I'm giving my vote to Mr Internet for the Employee of the Century Award!

This is why I chose the picture of a giant hand holding a globe at http://talentelle-bmw-products.blogspot.com/

Think of the Internet as a giant glove, and you can only use it IF you insert your hand into that glove. "Inserting your hand into that glove" simply means you have to get into the Internet and understand how it works.

You have to learn how to use the following free software applications: Payloadz, Blogger, Youtube, Slideshare.net, geocities, Linkedin, Audacity, etc.

Yes, it will take some time, but without knowing how to use the above apps, you simply cannot program the Internet to work for you.

In the globally interconnected cybernetic economy we live and work in today, great wealth is created and amassed in cyberspace. Most people don't realize this because it rarely makes the six o'clock news.

Most people -- think of your friends and family -- go to work every day, and work like as if the Internet did not exist. For most people, the Internet is like a catalog of websites that they browse. As for email, they use it like a fax machine (except that it's much faster).

In short, people don't view the Internet as THE critical driver of the two main functions of business (the engine of wealth creation): INNOVATION & MARKETING.

Think of Youtube, for instance. With a mere 10 million dollars in seed investment from Sequoia Capital, Steve and Chad built an AUTO-INNOVATION platform onto which people upload 65,000 videos every DAY. Then, they sold Youtube as a marketing platform to Google for $1.65 billion. (Remember: 100 million videos are being viewed every day via Youtube).

Let's get back to cyber-programming. The first distinction to learn is the difference between writing and coding.

Writing means you're sending a message to someone, and once the message is read and understood, then that's the end of it. So if you spent 10 minutes writing an email to someone, then after that person has read your email, he/she WON'T read it again. Also, nobody would normally read that email. The only "return" you get for spending 10 minutes writing that email, is the action that the recipient might have taken after reading your email (assuming your email called for some kind of action).

Coding or programming, however, is an entirely different matter. It's an instruction you write which can have INFINITE RETURNS! That's because what you coded or programmed can be REUSED again and again and again.

It's basically why there are 21,000 millionaires at Microsoft, and not a single one at the New York Times. Microsoft coders write something that can be reused again and again and again, whereas NY Times writers (even the best of them) write stories and columns that people read only ONCE and then throw in the waste basket (or recycling bin).

My main message is that whatever you do at work or in your business, make sure it can be reused infinitely, either by you or by someone else who's willing to buy your value-creation process.

Cyber-programming for great wealth involves the creation of value online so that millions of people can, for a small fee, access that value immediately.

This is probably one of the thoughts that Bill Gates had one fateful morning in 1995, when he decided to change his mind about the Internet and refocus the company on being an Internet player.

Today, in 2007, 12 years later, I hope all professionals and careerists will similarly view the Internet as the single greatest opportunity of their lifetime, and use it to achieve financial freedom.

To become wealthy, remove yourself from the equation

To become wealthy, you've got to remove yourself from your wealth-creation equation. In other words, you've got to switch from a "personal services" model of value creation to a "non-personal" model of value creation and wealth proliferation.

Robert Reich, in his book The Future of Success, wrote that one must distinguish between personal services (like nursing) and media-leveraged services. Robert Allen, in his books, often talks about the power of leverage. Most millionaires indeed advise people to use non-personal means and methods (including technologies) to greatly amplify (multiply in quality and quantity) their productivity.

T. Harv Eker, for example, in his book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, exhorts readers to imagine a way to serve TEN TIMES more people than they are currently serving. (You've got to read Goldratt to fully understand how this is possible, but don't worry, I will write a summary of Goldratt's ideas and principles shortly!).

Serving a huge number of people is not as difficult as most people believe. But for that to be possible, you need a "genie." My favorite genie is Mr. Internet. He exists to serve YOU, and make YOU rich. Unfortunately, most people are not aware of this reality!

Steve Pavlina, for instance, makes $40,000 a month from his blog (www.stevepavlina.com).

Note: I know that it's crazy that I'm promoting a competitor, but what the heck, Steve is doing a great job!

Same thing with Matt Morris, who became a millionaire by sharing with people everything he knew (from reading tons of books) about how to achieve success.

The truth is, you cannot become rich if you rely on your personal services (unless you provide such an extraordinary service that it simply cannot be delivered by anyone else -- ex. top surgeon, magician, lead singer in a musical, etc.).

Here are other examples of people who became rich by removing themselves from their wealth-creation formula:
  1. A doctor decides to go into research, creating a pill and selling it via pharmaceuticals (Note: a doctor serves people, a medical researcher serves markets)
  2. A cook decides to package his knowhow into a book of recipes, and is selling his books instead of cooking every day for customers
  3. An entrepreneur (somewhat like me!) decides to stop running companies, and captures his business operations into a franchising system that he sells to franchisees in 22 countries

If you look at your friends and relatives, you'll quickly realize most of them are engaged in the lifetime delivery of "personal services." That is, they work as professionals employed by a firm to deliver certain professional services.

Even if they make $100,000 a year, that's still not very rich. That's because they are exchanging their life (which is limited) in return for money.

A truly economically enlightened person earns income NOT by working, but by having systems (often operated by humans) work for him.

Okay, here's the incredible insight I want to share with you: it's not enough to create a system that works for you in creating value. Creating and managing that system is, of course, not negotiable if you want to become rich. You can read The E-Myth, by Michael Gerber, to get all the details as to how to create such as value-creating system.

You ALSO have to carefully embed your system within the larger system out there. To the extent that you succeed, this larger system will NATURALLY drive your system and that, my friends, is when you become fabulously wealthy.

Find your strength and become rich

My belief has always been that if you have an ordinary brain, you should be an extraordinary millionaire. That is, it's not how big your brain is, it's how you use it!

It is possible to become incredibly rich, even if you have normal IQ, because of something wonderful called "leverage." There are different sorts of leverage, such as knowledge leverage, financial leverage, social leverage, sociological leverage (e.g. Youtube), international leverage, economic leverage, talent leverage, passion leverage (also called "loverage"!), etc.

However, and THIS IS WHERE MOST PEOPLE ARE COMPLETELY MISLED THROUGHOUT THEIR ENTIRE LIVES, there is no "job leverage." You cannot, I repeat, you CANNOT use your job as leverage in order to enrich yourself.

I realized this in June 2000 -- that's 7 years ago. So in a way, I'm 7 years ahead of people who are currently still "counting" on their job to help them realize financial freedom.

I'm not saying that holding a full-time job is bad. It is the financially responsible thing to do, since you have to pay bills. However, beyond paying the bills, you have to think about your own financial freedom, and to realize that, you've got to have an "exit strategy." This is a strategy that allows you to quit your job at a specific date, because you had the foresight to set up your affairs so that you could have several cashflows going which provides you with the income you need to sustain your favorite lifestyle. (See the mind map above. I can basically create any self-sustaining cashflow for the people identified on that map. Drop me a line if you want more info.)

So my point is that you cannot achieve financial freedom through your job, whether you're a receptionnist or executive. The business owners or shareholders, on the other hand, use the "job" concept and reality as a leverage to get rich. How? They use all sorts of leverage to increase the gap between your salary (which is an expense to business owners) and the revenues generated by the value that workers co-create in conjunction with capital and equipment. This gap is called "profit," and the rate at which this gap increases is what they call the "profit rate."

Take 15 minutes to carefully think about this, I guarantee it will be the most productive 15 minutes of your life!

Also think about why it's better to find "workers" as opposed to finding "work." Even better: find workers that you train and turn into worker-seekers. Network marketing leaders have fully understood this concept, and are getting rich as a result of this unique (but unnatural) insight.

Yes, there are exceptions. Some people CAN become rich via their jobs. They try to use their priviledged positions in a corporation to enrich themselves, but they do so ILLEGALLY, as we have seen in the Enron case.

There was also the case of the VP who moved from one car company to another, and brought with him the customer lists to his new employer! That's illegal, because all corporate information are proprietary and belong to the employer.

The only way to legally get rich (while having a fabulous time in the process) is to OWN something, and then to leverage that thing relentlessly, aggressively and savagely.

The first thing you should totally own, is your strength. I wrote previously about the Strengths Finder 2.0, a book by Tom Rath that will help you identify your top 5 strengths. Donald Trump said it, Robert Kiyosaki said it, Peter Drucker said it, Wayne Dyer said it (although he refers to strengths as a source of abundance within, when he wrote "Wealth is not something you acquire, but something you tune into").

All these multimillionaires are saying that you must build on what makes you unique, what you are naturally passionate about and pretty good at doing.

If you focus on anything else that is external to you, you WILL be cash-poor or time-poor for the rest of your life. By time-poor, I mean people who earn a high salary but are professionally doing something that they are not passionate about or cannot find meaning in. That is, their financial insecurity makes them completely miss their calling in life. Wayne Dyer refers to this sad state of affairs when he wrote "Don't die with your music still inside of you."

For financially insecure people, the high salary is just a "compensatory differential" given to them in exchange for the life that they are losing on the job. These people are indeed giving up a portion of their life for money received in return.

The bottom line is that every person must find her strength so as to build a career or business on it. To build a career or a business on something that is not uniquely "you" or that is not completely under your control would be pure economic foolishness.

I had a crush on a girl

In the early 90s, I had this crush on a beautiful girl so I followed her everywhere. Don't worry, I had her permission so I was not at all stalking her! :-)

Anyways, one day, I followed her into a philosophy class she was taking, and that's when & how I discovered Nietszche's "superman" philosophy. Nietszche is an exciting philosopher, not always consistent, but definitely exciting.

However, one woman thought more clearly than him and wrote more brilliantly than him: Ayn Rand. I will write more about her philosophy later on, as I suspect she will influence you to believe in capitalism so that you can use it to your advantage in life.

Let's get back to the beautiful girl I was stalking, oops, I mean following.

***** influenced me to take the same Existentialism course the following semester. What I remember from Nietszche is that man should overcome himself in order to become the Overman (or "superman").

Today, over a decade later, I finally decided to launch -- please don't laugh -- the Superman Portal. Visit it by flying to www.supermanportal.blogspot.com.

I had this project in mind since 2004, but was too busy in the last few years in the launching of a company that became Talentelle (www.talentelle.com).

I don't know exactly what the Superman Portal will become, I just feel it might be useful as a place to gather resources for men who want to improve themselves. I'll be the first to admit that I need a lot of self-improvement, so I very much look forward to learning what this portal will teach. :-)

The bottom line is that we've reached a dangerous point in history where we are far too powerful yet far too unwise. We have nuclear weapons, biological weapons, environmental problems, etc. yet at the same time, the amount of knowledge is diminishing as fragmented and junk information is exploding. This creates an environment where we watch the Internet, TV, movies, etc. but learn very little that could help us improve as human beings.

I hope this portal will help in some way. I invite all male readers to provide feedback, and thank you in advance.

Actually, I'd love to hear women's point of view too. Thank you in advance, ladies!

FREE report to help you find your talent

The book "Strengths Finder 2.0" costs $25 (Canadian), but you can get the report for FREE here. I still highly recommend the book, because it contains a secret access code so you can use the Strengths Finder tool online at http://sf2.strengthsfinder.com.

The report contains a brief description of the 34 key talents, so you can identify your top five talents and develop them.

I found out that my top five talents are:

Analytical

People especially talented in the Analytical theme search for reasons and causes. They have the ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation.

Ideation

People especially talented in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.

Input

People especially talented in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.

Intellection

People especially talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

Strategic

People especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

Strengths Finder 2.0 book -- AMAZING!

Tom Rath published a book I just bought yesterday, called Strengths Finder 2.0.

My friends, this is THE book to buy if you want to find out what your strength and talent is.

I've been teaching a strategic career workshop since 2005, and I've stressed often that a REAL career is based on one's strengths or talent. Indeed, what you are good at and passionate about, is THE foundation upon which to build your career (and, by extension, your economic future).

Most people build their "career" on a vague notion of what it is that they are good at, and their notion, as Peter Drucker wrote, is usually wrong. This is why it is so important to find out, precisely and accurately, what your strengths are.

The global economy is becoming more and more competitive, so I suspect that people who don't operate from their strengths, will soon have a very difficult life.

The site for Strengths Finder is http://sf2.strengthsfinder.com, but you need a special access code which is contained in the book (it's about $25 Canadian).

One trick I recommend, which is not in Rath's book, is that once you've found your talent, you can validate it by asking someone to represent you. An agent, for instance. If agents decline to represent you, that might be a sign that your talent is not clearly defined enough, or that you need to do more instrospection to find out what your real talent is.

There is NO DOUBT that everyone has at least one talent. The first step is to BELIEVE IT, and then to search for it.

The reason so many people apparently don't believe they have a talent, is that society has conditioned us to focus on education (credentials) and jobs, which are important but have little to do with one's unique talent. The news media also encourages us, on a daily basis, to look OUT into the world, NOT to look inside of us to find out what we have which is unique.

However, it is never too late to find out what your talent is. Once you've found it, trust me, your life will totally change. You will feel incredibly wealthy, and experience such a peace of mind.

You will feel that nothing and no one can stop you. You will begin to imagine all the GREAT things you can do in this life, and you will begin to do them!

But first, please go buy the book, I highly recommend it! I read hundreds of books per year, but this is the one book I recommend for discovering who you are and what your strengths are. As you read through the description of the 34 types of strengths, you will recognize yourself and will also recognize some of your friends and family and thus, you will be in a position to help and support them as well.

The hard truth about your "friends"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzfPfSgJYZI

Above is a presentation of hard truths, but truths nevertheless about your "friends" and relatives.

The tragedy is that often, people who are emotionally close to us thwart us and block us and even try to demolish our dreams. Sometimes, they can do all the above in a conversation of five minutes.

They've stopped growing as human beings, so they wonder why YOU would want to continue your personal growth.

If THEY couldn't make it to financial freedom or the realization of their dreams, who are YOU to believe that you can do it?

They think they are providing good advice when, in fact, they are only subconsciously trying to impose their views, their values or their narrow-minded ideology.

Are they evil? No. Are they bad intentioned? I don't think so. They just need help, although they express that need for help by destroying the dreams of other people.

This is why it's often hard for a person, especially a young person, to engage on the path of great success, whether in his/her career or business. He/she is SURE to meet with strong opposition from people who, unfortunately, have given up on their dreams.

Of course, you can't change people. But you can change friends. You can even move to a different city to avoid your relatives. But the best move is probably to accept the fact that such people need help, and that the only way you can help them is to become successful yourself.

I'm not at all saying that "success is the best revenge," because your friends and relatives, no matter how misguided they are in their philosophy, never meant to hurt you. However, regardless of their intentions, if they do hurt you, you ALWAYS have the choice to avoid talking to them.

Strangely enough, out of this negativity, something good might emerge.

Indeed, if you are a generous person and care about your friends and relatives -- and obviously, I'm sure you do -- then you will be motivated to succeed as soon as possible so they can see your positive results. Results are the only thing which will convince them that you have the right attitude in life.

Ideas are riches

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz4Wl3jsHMc

Some amazing quotes in the video clip above. Notice how the theme "ideas are riches" comes back often in Napoleon Hill's writing. That's the first secret.

The second secret is that you can actually create ideas WHENEVER you want. Edward de Bono's books teach that.

You see, most people are time-poor or cash-poor BECAUSE they never come up with any new idea. Yet, you cannot create wealth without creating, first, new ideas.

Here's something I learned from my teacher Brian Tracy a decade ago: write at the top of a piece of paper an opportunity or challenge or problem you wish to solve. Then, for the next ten minutes, write out 20 ideas to solve that problem or tackle that challenge or capitalize on that opportunity.

Remember the quote from the self-made billionaire Ross Perot: "It just takes one idea to live like a king for the rest of your life." I will write more later about what he means, but try to understand it for yourself.

What's your erotic fantasy?

My "erotic" fantasy has always been to work as an undercover federal agent, and the most vivid incarnation of that fantasy is Sonny Crockett, the lead character in the wildly popular and successful TV series Miami Vice.

Awesome music, awesome scenery, awesome fashion statement!

In my teen years, I even dressed like Don Johnson and sometimes carried a water pistol. :-)

Maybe that obsession led me, unconsciously, to work for the Justice Department in 1993-1994.

You're probably wondering: "Peter, why are you sharing your "erotic" fantasy with the whole wide world?"

My point is that everyone has a secret metaphor that defines the lifestyle they want to lead. It's what I call a person's "erotic professional metaphor." This means you want your work to allow you to live your fantasy.

I'm not saying I want to drive around in a white Testarossa, wander around (while looking oh-so-cool) in the drug-trafficking underworld of Miami and arrest (or shoot) drug dealers. I'm not qualified for that. In fact, if you give me a real gun, I most likely would accidentally shoot myself in the foot! (So stay away!)

I am saying that I want to operate at the federal level. I imagine myself, as in the picture above, "flashing my federal badge" at CEOs so they let me into their companies and I can start training all employees using a technology I'm currently developing, called StarMaker. It's a technology the federal government will pay me a seven-figure amount to release to all Canadians. Why? Because it has to do with national economic security. More about this secret technology later.

You see, my friends, we all operate according to some semi-conscious or subconscious erotic metaphor. I mean "erotic" in the sense that it gets your juices flowing, and can really, really, really excite you.

People who don't have a metaphor guiding their lives, just go through the motions. Their lives are monotonous and dictated by routine because they never dared to dream of a fantastic life.

The truth of the matter is, our lives are just movies. Your life is your movie, and you are the star. You are also the director and the producer.

That's another secret I'll write more about later.

Right now, I've got to go to a meeting with a notorious drug dealer and it's a sting operation I've been working on for the last few months. :-P

To become a master, you must teach

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SJ5sHOGZv4

"You don't get to deal with the man to start with. You gotta prove yourself against his students first!"

Just amazing.

I often refer to the art of wealth or success as "mental kung fu" but it's perhaps more accurate to say that it's "mental aikido."

There are a lot of authors who offer "magic tricks" that supposedly can help people achieve success and financial freedom, yet it's doubtful people will succeed unless they adopt the serious mindset of a student who calmly yet desperately wants to become a master. Steven Seagal is an example of such a serious mind. At age 16, he moved to Japan to learn everything he could about aikido, and subsequently opened aikido schools in that country!

Another insight I want to share with you is that it's not information or even intelligence that is power, but integration of both information and intelligence into a lethal mental reflex system. Imagine that your mind is engaged in "aikido" practice or combat, on a daily basis. Your integration level refers then to how thoroughly your mind has assimilated your education, experience, knowledge, etc. so that your mind reacts with lightning speed to anything that enters your perception through your senses.

The best way to integrate all your knowledge into a powerful system of thought, is to package it into a workshop and then deliver that workshop as often as you can. Every time you deliver a workshop, your knowledge passes through your entire being and comes out of your mouth, and this very exercise -- in addition to bringing you income from workshop participants -- makes you more fluent in your knowledge. That is, more masterful and more powerful.

As you become more fluent in what you know and intellectually master, you create for youself an intellectual self-defense system that, like Steven Seagal's automatic reflexes, can easily subdue any hostile ideas or feelings that come your way to harm you.

Today more than ever people need "intellectual self-defense" training or systems, because every day, they are deceived by all kinds of organizations, people and agendas. The only constant in society, as you know, is deception. That's why mental training -- which leads to the rare ability to resist and overcome foreign influence -- is so critical if one is to achieve success.

From knowledge to action to results to habits to reflexes

The above certainly looks appealing, and Trump knows how to do marketing. He also accurately estimated that the business education industry is exploding, which is why he's getting into it with almost erotic passion.

Indeed, the adult education industry is quite different from the real estate industry, where the value is more tangible. In the education and training industry, profits are almost limitless since the same knowledge can be packaged and repackaged in an almost endless number of formats and distributed through a great variety of channels to suit all tastes and preferences.

The ad says you can get an MBA-level education in one day, and this might be stretching the truth a little bit. Unless Trump is talking strictly about a business approach or general principles, and NOT about the technical intricacies or methods taught in business schools.

The fact is, it's easy to go from knowledge to understanding. Pick up any business book and after a few hours, you might understand what the author is talking about. Ram Charan's books, for example, are fairly easy to understand, and there lies his genius.

But to go from understanding to action is hard. That's because you need more than just knowledge. You need "knowledge about knowledge." That is, you need to know HOW to apply knowledge.

Next, going from action to habit is harder still.

Finally, going from habit to reflex is hardest. This is where hard, ruthless, intensive training is required. You can't acquire super-profitable business reflexes in one day, just as you can't become a black belt karate expert in one day. It takes years and years of practice, under the supervision of a master.

So here's the basic sequence for becoming a business master (which will allow you to create enormous wealth and achieve financial freedom):
  1. Acquire the knowledge and turn it into understanding
  2. Use your understanding, mixed with faith and belief, to take action
  3. Make sure your actions lead to the desired results
  4. Once your actions lead to the desired results, turn your actions into habits (daily habits, for instance). That is, do whatever it takes to PROGRAM those habits into your daily routine.
  5. Next, turn your habits into ultra-fast reflexes
Step 1 is the most critical as it is the beginning.

So what is the best way to turn your knowledge into understanding?

Teach it. If you can't teach it, you don't understand it.

Once you understand it -- that is, you are so fluent with the materials that it flows through your mind effortlessly -- then you can take action, and initiate the subsequent steps.

Step 3 is about implementation, and you need to religiously gather all pertinent data in order to monitor results. Most of your actions might not lead to the desired results, but that's okay. Just focus on those actions or action sequences that DO lead to desired results, and religiously record HOW you were able to create those results.

Step 4 is about creating structures and processes and rituals in your life which "force" you to execute the habits.

Spiritual power

The following video clip of Deepak Chopra, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yIxPN7VOkI, talks about the self-realized soul which transcends the ego, and has thus overcome the need for approval from others.

You might not understand everything that Chopra is saying, and this is normal especially if you've never read his 40+ books. But I thought I'd share the clip because if you can understand one or two insights he offers, your life will be that much clearer.

The success secret here is that once you become truly spiritual, you become powerful indeed. The ancient Japanese proverb says: "Fight with your spirit, and the sword will follow."

Einstein put it differently, but hints at the same operating principle: "A problem cannot be solved at the level at which it occurs."

Finally, Brian Tracy, one of my favorite authors, says that Success = (Attributes + Aptitudes) X Attitude

As you can see, a change in your attitude (or spiritual level) will have a much greater effect on how much success you obtain than an increase in your aptitude. (An attribute cannot be changed since that is what you're born with, such as your height, appearance, etc.).

Powerful inspirational and instructional videos! FREE!

My friends, I've started to save lots of inspirational and highly educational videos in the Favorites section of www.youtube.com/talentelle, so check them out!

Talentelle is the company I co-founded to offer strategic training to 3 billion women, but hey, you can benefit even if you're a guy! No need for a zex operation! :-)

Lots of videos from Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, etc. These have been my teachers for several years, now you can see them on Youtube! They will change your philosophy, they will help you acquire new attitudes, and they will definitely set you on the path to success!

Enjoy and have an amazing week-end! (Don't forget to share with your friends!)

About your financial freedom

The above is a powerful mind map about your economic options, I strongly recommend that you get the original file so you can edit it and customize it to YOUR situation. I will keep updating this mind map often, and you can get it for free. Just drop me a line at omnidigitalbrain@yahoo.com. Deadline to get the free mind map: May 8, 2007. Price after that deadline: $100 for a year.

I quit corporate America in June 2000 and never looked back. Afterwards, I began to make $100 an hour as a free agent (translator). That felt really, really good!

Then, I became a business owner and made about $10,000 in two hours.

And now, it looks like I will be able to retire before I'm 40 years old.

So trust me when I tell you that working for somebody else might be a short-term solution (after all, we all have to pay the bills), but it is NOT a long-term solution. In other words, a "job" is a short-term solution to a long-term problem, which is: "How can I earn revenues WITHOUT working?"

The secret answer, my friends, lies in the book written by T. Harv Eker, titled Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. Until you've read that book, you do not know what financial freedom REALLY means.

Mind map on how to achieve your financial freedom

The above is a screenshot of a powerful mind map I'm creating to help people achieve FINANCIAL FREEDOM. I will keep updating this mind map, so drop me a line at omnidigitalbrain@yahoo.com if you'd like to receive the original file (which can only be opened with Freemind, a free mind mapping software available at www.freemind.sourceforge.net.
With Freemind, you can edit or delete the branches of the mind map and keep only those that are relevant to your situation.

Sylvester Stallone's story -- UNBELIEVABLE!

After I watched that clip, I remembered the tagline from the movie that Sly produced, called Driven: "When you risk nothing, you risk everything." It somehow acquired a new powerful meaning, now that I know that Stallone actually lived his philosophy.

Do you have a plan?

Someone asked that question on Linkedin Answers, so I answered it as you can see from the above screenshot.

So let me extend the same courtesy to you by asking you that powerful question: "Do you have a plan?"

This reminds me of the old joke: A woman was driving in Vermont on the countryside when she saw another driver being stuck in the mud. The driver kept pressing the gas pedal, but the car did not move at all. What was striking was that he did not seem to care whether his car was moving or not. So the woman stopped her car, stuck her head out the window and asked him: "Are you stuck?"

The man replied: "I would be, if I was going somewhere!"

The lesson, of course, is that if you don't have a goal or if you don't know where you're heading, then you wouldn't mind being stuck.

I see a lot of people being "stuck" in life, yet it doesn't seem to bother them. They just go through the motions every day, yet they are not getting anywhere.

This is why the question "Do you have a plan?" (or "Do you have a goal that you're working toward?") is so powerful. It clarifies one's perception so as to liberate one from the deadly trap of routinized inertia.

Who's robbing you of your power?

Drop me a line at omnidigitalbrain@yahoo.com if you'd like to receive frequent updates of the map above (you have to download the free mind mapping software at www.freemind.sourceforge.net to be able to open the file I will send you).

Why is this map important? Because the truth about power (which leads to wealth) is that it's not so much something to acquire from the outside, but something you liberate inside of you. But to liberate it inside of you, you have to be aware that other people, including friends and family, often exert unwittingly a negative influence on you and your ability to exercise power.
In short, you already have POWER. But other people as well as society (through institutions) prevent you from discovering that power inside of you.
This is indeed the success or power secret of great men and women like Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul II, etc.
Unfortunately, many evil people have also discovered that secret, such as Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, etc.

Someone is controlling your mind

Interesting video on mind control, which the late economic John Kenneth Galbraith referred to as "managed public response" in his last book, a little red booklet titled "The Economics of Innocent Fraud."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkqfC9NX_DY

For my part, I've identified MECA as the industrial complex that continually deceives people (MECA stands for Mass media, Educational system, Corporations and Advertising). These four institutions keep lying to people, and when they do provide facts, the facts are completely irrelevant to people's economic or political interests.

The chief agent working for these four institutions: Fear. Yann Martel talks about Fear in his best-seller, The Life of Pi, and refers to it as the chief enemy of human beings.

Whatever it is that you want to achieve in life, you are stopped by this powerful agent called Fear.
