Selling = $$$

To start a business, end a life.

What I mean is that to become an entrepreneur, you've got to carefully examine your previous values, beliefs, references, specific life incidents, experiences, friendships, etc. and reject all those that are no longer compatible with your new ENTREPRENEURIAL path.

When I teach the BMW workshop (www.businessmodelworkout.blogspot.com), one thing I noticed is the enormous prejudice that people have toward "selling." Most people think it's beneath them to sell, or that the selling process is somehow sneaky or stressful, etc.

Those are the people who will NEVER succeed in business. Unless they change their mind, that is.

Selling is simply helping people to clarify what they need, and then helping them to get it.

Selling also happens to be the easiest and most fun way of making money: you just meet people, make friends, talk and at the end of it all, they hand you the money.

Nothing beats that!

Of course, you have to know what to talk about and HOW to talk, but that's another fun part: you begin to master language and communication to a degree that most people can't even imagine. You begin to watch what you're saying. And you begin to have fun talking as it becomes a sort of game where you keep the score.

It is the self-control (intellectual, social, emotional, verbal, etc.) involved in selling that makes it so much fun. People who don't sell, just chat and waste time usually. They chat about the weather, the movies, cars, etc. Those are unimportant stuff.

When you sell, you talk to people about their pain, their goals in life, their priorities, their concerns -- all these are important stuff that everybody wants to talk about.

Because you are right there, willing to listen to them, they will trust you. And they WANT to talk to you!

Like the saying goes: "People don't care what you know until they know that you care."

People who have negative perceptions or feelings about selling, are leaving millions of dollars on the table!

The bottom line is that the more you sell (and you can sell your products and services, or someone else's), the more money you make. You can even make a six-figure income if you want, or become a multimillionaire.

Upcoming post: Selling is like a game of tennis.
