Strengths Finder 2.0 book -- AMAZING!

Tom Rath published a book I just bought yesterday, called Strengths Finder 2.0.

My friends, this is THE book to buy if you want to find out what your strength and talent is.

I've been teaching a strategic career workshop since 2005, and I've stressed often that a REAL career is based on one's strengths or talent. Indeed, what you are good at and passionate about, is THE foundation upon which to build your career (and, by extension, your economic future).

Most people build their "career" on a vague notion of what it is that they are good at, and their notion, as Peter Drucker wrote, is usually wrong. This is why it is so important to find out, precisely and accurately, what your strengths are.

The global economy is becoming more and more competitive, so I suspect that people who don't operate from their strengths, will soon have a very difficult life.

The site for Strengths Finder is http://sf2.strengthsfinder.com, but you need a special access code which is contained in the book (it's about $25 Canadian).

One trick I recommend, which is not in Rath's book, is that once you've found your talent, you can validate it by asking someone to represent you. An agent, for instance. If agents decline to represent you, that might be a sign that your talent is not clearly defined enough, or that you need to do more instrospection to find out what your real talent is.

There is NO DOUBT that everyone has at least one talent. The first step is to BELIEVE IT, and then to search for it.

The reason so many people apparently don't believe they have a talent, is that society has conditioned us to focus on education (credentials) and jobs, which are important but have little to do with one's unique talent. The news media also encourages us, on a daily basis, to look OUT into the world, NOT to look inside of us to find out what we have which is unique.

However, it is never too late to find out what your talent is. Once you've found it, trust me, your life will totally change. You will feel incredibly wealthy, and experience such a peace of mind.

You will feel that nothing and no one can stop you. You will begin to imagine all the GREAT things you can do in this life, and you will begin to do them!

But first, please go buy the book, I highly recommend it! I read hundreds of books per year, but this is the one book I recommend for discovering who you are and what your strengths are. As you read through the description of the 34 types of strengths, you will recognize yourself and will also recognize some of your friends and family and thus, you will be in a position to help and support them as well.
