From knowledge to action to results to habits to reflexes

The above certainly looks appealing, and Trump knows how to do marketing. He also accurately estimated that the business education industry is exploding, which is why he's getting into it with almost erotic passion.

Indeed, the adult education industry is quite different from the real estate industry, where the value is more tangible. In the education and training industry, profits are almost limitless since the same knowledge can be packaged and repackaged in an almost endless number of formats and distributed through a great variety of channels to suit all tastes and preferences.

The ad says you can get an MBA-level education in one day, and this might be stretching the truth a little bit. Unless Trump is talking strictly about a business approach or general principles, and NOT about the technical intricacies or methods taught in business schools.

The fact is, it's easy to go from knowledge to understanding. Pick up any business book and after a few hours, you might understand what the author is talking about. Ram Charan's books, for example, are fairly easy to understand, and there lies his genius.

But to go from understanding to action is hard. That's because you need more than just knowledge. You need "knowledge about knowledge." That is, you need to know HOW to apply knowledge.

Next, going from action to habit is harder still.

Finally, going from habit to reflex is hardest. This is where hard, ruthless, intensive training is required. You can't acquire super-profitable business reflexes in one day, just as you can't become a black belt karate expert in one day. It takes years and years of practice, under the supervision of a master.

So here's the basic sequence for becoming a business master (which will allow you to create enormous wealth and achieve financial freedom):
  1. Acquire the knowledge and turn it into understanding
  2. Use your understanding, mixed with faith and belief, to take action
  3. Make sure your actions lead to the desired results
  4. Once your actions lead to the desired results, turn your actions into habits (daily habits, for instance). That is, do whatever it takes to PROGRAM those habits into your daily routine.
  5. Next, turn your habits into ultra-fast reflexes
Step 1 is the most critical as it is the beginning.

So what is the best way to turn your knowledge into understanding?

Teach it. If you can't teach it, you don't understand it.

Once you understand it -- that is, you are so fluent with the materials that it flows through your mind effortlessly -- then you can take action, and initiate the subsequent steps.

Step 3 is about implementation, and you need to religiously gather all pertinent data in order to monitor results. Most of your actions might not lead to the desired results, but that's okay. Just focus on those actions or action sequences that DO lead to desired results, and religiously record HOW you were able to create those results.

Step 4 is about creating structures and processes and rituals in your life which "force" you to execute the habits.
