80% of society is business

Why is business important?

Most people associate "business" with tough guys in suit, making important decisions and acting like cold-blooded animals who will do anything to generate a profit.

Whether we like it or not, since the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and Communism lost to Capitalism, business is REALLY the only game in town.

80% of what goes on in society is about business. A person who doesn't understand business, doesn't understand 80% of the society she lives in.

Even politics is submerged in business. The decision to go to war in Iraq may have been prompted by business interests (oil companies or war-support companies like Halliburton).

I believe that the ultimate goal of business is to win the ultimate in life, which is freedom to do anything you want to do, every day of your life (short of a felony or anything that might prevent another human being from enjoying life).

Many people go into business to make money, instead of trying to earn their freedom in life.

This is like a guy entering a room full of beauty pageant contestants, and instead of talking to the crowned beauty queen, he goes for Miss Congeniality.

Okay, bad example!

Suppose you're lying on your deathbed, and one guy offers you $2,000,000, and another guy offers you 2 extra years on Earth, which would you choose?

My point exactly!

The purpose of business is to create more life! More freedom!

Here's the REALLY STRANGE THING: most of people in North America do not attempt to fight for their freedom, BECAUSE they do not feel they have the freedom to go into that fight.

In short, you don't go for freedom, because you don't have freedom.

It's like a man saying: "Well, I can see that this woman is really beautiful and sweet, but I can't ask her out, for the simple reason that I don't have a girlfriend!"

To get back to the delicious example above, suppose a man enters a room full of beauty pageant contestants. He talks to no one, even though he's the only male in the room. Why? Probably because he doesn't think he is interesting enough for these goddesses. What can a mere mortal like him offer to these fantasmagorical creatures? So he decides to become a statue and not say anything. He won't even move. He will just enjoy the view and hope they don't see him.

Many men may laugh at this example, but the fact is, most men are in that situation. They never go for what they want in life.

A Texas billionaire once said: There are only two important secrets for success: know what it is that you want, and be willing to pay the price.

Most people's problem in life either comes from NOT knowing what they want or, if they do have an idea of what they want, not having the courage to pay the price in advance.
